Let’s talk about style today - not just the glossy magazine version, but the real, sometimes messy journey of finding your personal style.
When I started paying attention to fashion, my style was... let’s call it eclectic – a hodgepodge of magazine inspirations, sale rack finds, and what I thought looked good. Spoiler alert: my stylist’s eye wasn’t quite trained yet!
One of my biggest mistakes? Thinking I could buy my way to great style. I’d accumulate mountains of clothing, hoping to solve my “style problem.”
Newsflash: More clothes don’t equal more style. They just equal a cluttered closet and a thinner wallet.
But here’s the thing about mistakes - they’re fantastic teachers if we let them.
I learned that throwing money at a style problem doesn’t solve it.
What does? Investing in style education.

Unless you can afford a full-time stylist (and, let’s be real, most of us can’t), learning about style is the best investment you can make in your wardrobe.
As my style evolved, the most significant change wasn’t in my closet - it was in my approach to getting dressed. The ease and joy I now feel when putting together an outfit is night and day compared to the stress and uncertainty I used to experience.
This style evolution has profoundly impacted my self-image and confidence. Style has become a tool for me to see myself in new, expansive ways, and it is one of the fastest methods I know to change my thoughts about myself.
Dressing in a way that truly reflects who I am is like giving myself a pep talk without saying a word.
What advice do I have for those struggling with their style journey?
- Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is a great wardrobe. Be patient with yourself.
- Most importantly, recognize that a style journey is actually a journey of self-discovery. It’s about uncovering and expressing who you are through what you wear.
Say yes to this journey! Embrace the mistakes, learn from them, and enjoy the process of discovering your unique style. It’s not just about looking good - it’s about feeling good, feeling like you.
Here’s to style, self-discovery, and saying yes to the adventure!
With love & encouragement,
