There are going to be bad days.
No amount of mindset work, gratitude practice, or beautifully designed life gets us out of that part.
A few weeks ago, I received some heartbreaking news.
I didn’t try to make myself feel better.
I wrapped myself in my favorite Cozy Earth blanket.
I put on beautiful music, lit a candle, and cried for an hour.
And then ordered my favorite “bad day” food: pho.
It was still a bad day.
But there was something tender about the way I moved through it.
And it made me think about this idea of a beautiful bad day.
We tend to think beauty is for the good days. The celebrations. The vacations. The dinners where everyone is laughing, and life feels easy.
But maybe beauty matters even more when life hurts.
A beautiful bad day might mean taking the afternoon off instead of forcing yourself through it. Buying the flowers. Calling the friend who lets you fall apart. Sitting outside with your coffee. Taking a long shower and putting on the pajamas that feel ridiculously good.
None of it erases what happened.
That’s not the point.
It simply says, This is hard, and I’m going to take very good care of myself while I’m in it.
I think that’s part of a well-lived life, too.
Not creating a life where nothing bad happens.
Creating one that knows how to hold you when it does.
Here’s to making even the bad days a little more beautiful,
A bad day doesn’t have to be an ugly one.
I can let the day be hard and still take tender care of myself while I’m in it. Hard and beautiful have always been allowed in the same room.

Cozy Earth Bubble Cuddle Blanket
This is the blanket that made my bad day a bit more beautiful. And it adorns my couch every day. In fact, I have two of these Cozy Earth Bubble Cuddle Blankets in my living room.
The Bubble Cuddle texture is soft in a way that feels intentional – like wrapping yourself in the gentlest hug.

Life’s Simple Pleasures [From the Archives]
The blanket. The candle. The bowl of pho. These aren’t distractions from a hard day – they’re how you move through one with a little more grace.
This episode from the vault is about the simple pleasures that are always available to you, no matter what kind of day you’re having.
