Back in the day when I was struggling with my weight and my overall life, I noticed something fascinating. I asked mysel the worst kinds of questions. Things like: Why am I fat? What can’t I do (insert goal here)? Why can’t I figure this out?
Why am I not smart/pretty/rich enough?
Your mind can be your best friend or your worst enemy.
It all depends on how you use it. {tweet it}
Your mind will answer any questions you ask of it. So, ask it a poor question, and you’ll get a poor answer. Ask it a great question, and you’ll receive mind-blowing answers.
For example, every time I would ask myself, “Why can’t I lose weight,” I’d discover numerous reasons. But, when I started asking, “How can I lose weight without the drama,” I began to discover a new way to live. I call it Slim, Chic & Savvy.
These days, I’m all about living with beauty, elegance and passion. I want to continue to upgrade and expand the quality of my own life. This requires that I constantly ask myself high quality questions, because . . .
The quality of your life is directly proportionate
to the quality of your questions. {tweet it}
I know that you, too, desire to live a beautiful life. So, here are 25 questions to help you do so:
1. How can I make this easier?
Don’t over complicate things. There’s always an easier way.
2. How was my childhood perfect for me?
Many people hold onto resentment and anger from childhood, only hurting themselves as adults. I know I did, until I started telling my story as the heroine. What did you learn? How was it perfect? Excavate the golden nuggets and let go of the rest.
3. What am I amazing at?
Don’t waste your time focusing on what you think you lack. Maximize what comes easily to you.
4. How can I make this fun?
Life’s too short to just get through your day. You’re a creative human. Figure out how to make this moment fun. The party is always within you.
5. What’s great about this?
Something magical happens when you surrender to the moment and search for its greatness.
6. How do I want to feel?
Not what you want to do or have, but what’s the feeling you want in your life. Create that first, because it’s always the feeling you’re after.
7. If money could talk, what would it tell me?
Be afraid? Enjoy? Lighten up? Really, what would it say?
8. So What?
Why does it matter? No really, why does it matter?
9. Who do I want to be right now?
Instead of reacting, STOP! Who do you want to BE in this situation?
10. Why not me?
All those other people doing amazing things? Why not you? They don’t have anything you don’t possess except the belief that they can.
11. What pisses me off?
Sometimes the things that upset you most is where you’ll have the biggest impact.
12. What do my clothes say?
Does your closest match who you want to be?
13. What do I want to be known for?
Take control of your legacy. At the end of your life, what do you want to be known for?
14. Do I like my reason?
Whatever decision you make, do you like your reason for doing so? If your decision is made out of fear, do you like your reason? If it’s made out of joy, do you like your reason? Your reason is very telling.
15. What’s holding me back?
Name it. Break through it.
16. How can I love more?
Love is always available. You simply must be it and give it. It will come back to you ten fold.
17. What’s the worst thing that can happen?
Facing your biggest fears will be how you overcome them.
18. Who’s going to stop me?
99.9% of the time, you’re looking at her in the mirror. Move out of your own way.
19. What do I need to let go of?
Elegance is about stripping your life of what’s weighing you down until there’s nothing left but what you adore. Needing approval? Comparison? Beating yourself up? Clutter? Name it and then do the work to rid your life of it.
20. Where am I not giving myself permission?
Don’t wait to receive from others what you can give to yourself.
21. Who do I need to forgive?
Your parents? An old flame? Yourself? Forgive, if for no one else, yourself. Plus, forgiveness is good for your skin. Seriously!
22. When do I feel most alive?
Create more of those moments for yourself.
23. What’s the next step?
Instead being overwhelmed by the next 100 steps, figure out the very next one and take it. Repeat again and again.
24. How can I make this happen?
Whether it’s a trip you want to take, a job you desire or cleaning out your closet, there is always a way to make it happen. You’re creative, and there’s always a way.

When do I feel most alive? Thinking about this a lot. When I'm counseling/coaching clients, speaking on stage, podcasting, in Paris or traveling, best with a group but on my own, at the beach, at the spa, on a walk, at Holy yoga, playing tennis, swimming or in the hot tub with my husband, reading a great book or listening to someone who inspires me, girls night out at a wine bar, and snuggling or on a date with one of my children.
I love this post. It really showed me that I need to improve the quality of my questions. I am not sure how to answer these but I am determined to integrate them into my life. Thanks!
