I've got a juicy story to share today about the unexpected life lesson I learned from... wait for it... my bookshelf!
Yes, you read that right – my bookshelf.
You see, I used to have a shelf filled with books that were basically screaming at me: “You're fat!” “You've got problems!” “Your life is a mess!”
Talk about a constant reminder of a self-image I was desperately trying to escape.
But then, I had an epiphany: I wasn't the problem. My thinking was.
So, I decided to give my bookshelf a makeover. I started imagining the future me - the one who had her life together and was confident, successful, and happy.
And I asked myself, “What would SHE be reading?”
So, I started curating a new collection. I swapped out those diet books for luscious cookbooks that celebrated the joy of food. I did keep some of my most beloved personal development books, but I added in novels and gorgeous books on art and design to spark creativity.
Slowly but surely, my bookshelf became a reflection of a woman honoring her present self with intentional support while also building a powerful future.
As my bookshelf transformed, so did my life.
It turns out the psychology of space is no joke.
So, Test, let me ask you this: what story is your space telling you?
Is it a story of limitation, of being stuck, of not being enough?
Or is it a story of possibility, of growth, of becoming the incredible person you're meant to be?
The choice is yours, my friend. And it starts with something as simple as a bookshelf.
So, go ahead. Give your space a little makeover. Surround yourself with things that inspire you, that lift you up, and that make you feel like the rockstar you are.
And watch as your self-image transforms right along with it.
Trust me, it's a plot twist you won't want to miss.
Love,
Why Surroundings Matter
Surroundings shape your self-image more than many realize.
The environments we inhabit, the people we surround ourselves with, and how we speak and carry ourselves reflect powerful messages about our beliefs about ourselves.
Think about your home: an organized, beautiful space whispers, “You deserve to feel good.” But a cluttered, neglected area broadcasts, “You're not a priority.”
When you thoughtfully curate surroundings that honor the woman you want to be, you're constantly reminded to embody that vision.
Does Your Environment Reflect Your Highest Self?
Your surroundings are a powerful mirror to your self-image.
The decor on your walls, the clothing in your closet, the clutter on your kitchen counter – every detail speaks volumes about how you see yourself.
At the School of Self-Image, we know your environment doesn't just shape your self-perception - it IS your self-perception made visible.
That's why, for the entire month of April, we're laser-focused on understanding what our homes are revealing about our inner world and upleveling areas (big or small).
No more tolerating decor, furniture, or items that hold you back. This is about loving yourself enough to live in a space that celebrates you, inspires you, and reflects your highest potential.
