Imagine yourself ten years ago. Circa 2013.

In your mind’s eye, what do you see yourself wearing? (I hear peplum, crop tops, and shorts with suits were hot back then…)

Tag me on Insta @tonyaleigh and show me your decade-old style with #2013andme

Style is a form of expression - but it can be hard to find what feels right … especially if you feel stuck in the current version of you.

That’s why I like to think in terms of “style experiments.”

Style experiments allow you to let go of the *pressure* to get things right and instead, just try things on.

To experiment with style, all you have to do is stretch yourself a little bit. The goal isn’t to like what you try on. The goal is to express yourself in new ways.

Welcome to The Possibilities Issue. They’re truly limitless…

The only thing that limits us is our own self-image. Let’s let go of what we “know” to make room for possibilities.

Love,

Style is a journey, not a destination.

Living a stylish life requires letting go of old ideas, rules, and habits – and trying on new possibilities. Think: designers, outfits, colors, cuts. The goal isn’t to arrive at a perfectly curated wardrobe you want to wear forever.

It’s to travel in style on each leg of this beautiful journey and … to pack for the occasion.

Making Room for a Style Elevation

with Juli Hicks

“I spent years studying personal development and always working on the inside while paying little attention to the outside. What I am learning in SOSI is that how you show up matters. It can make a big difference in how you see yourself and in how others see you.

In the past, I’ve always said I'm a ‘plain Jane’ and have no sense of style. I'm now ready to invest in learning all the things to elevate my style with Tonya's help, so while I was at SOSI Desert Live, I signed up for The Style Experience!

The suggested prework from Tonya was to ‘clear out items that no longer fit you - in size or otherwise.’ I didn’t think I had anything to get rid of, as I have no problem clearing clutter and passing things on but I kept hanging on to these, mostly because of cost. Vince, Brooks Brothers, L’agence, and Kate Spade. Now is the time. I’m so ready for this style elevation!”

The Style Experience

The Style Experience is an unforgettable adventure starting March 4, 2023 where a group of women and I will create our “next style chapter” together. You’ll build your personal style manual for living, thinking, and dressing like a stylish woman. There will be 5 virtual style retreats, monthly style sessions, and weekly style inspiration that will revolutionize how you see yourself. You will become a stylish woman on a whole new level. Watch out for another invite from me next week if this speaks to you.

My 6-Month No Shopping Update

My latest style experiment has been the most enlightening of all: a 6-month No Shopping Challenge.

It’s been a hard one, Heather!

I’ve wrestled with denying myself the dopamine hit that comes from swiping a credit card on a brand new purchase.

I’ve had to face my own shopping impulses that can lead to mindless spending.

I’ve studied how scarcity can impact our choices.

And I’ve noticed how abundance often doesn’t equate to spending more money.

I’m feeling appreciation and excitement for this much-needed reset, and I still have two months to go. This no-shopping challenge has been such a beautiful and difficult experience.

Let me tell you all about it in today’s podcast.

Shop your own closet this week.

Surprise! There’s nothing in the bag this week to honor my 6-Month No Shopping Challenge. Instead, I’d love for you to push the reset button with me (if only for a day) and dig deep into your closet to find something “new” you can bring back to life. Maybe it can be part of your style experiment this week. I know there’s a gem in there just waiting to be showcased.
