When I think of a woman who is glowing, I imagine her inner radiance shining through her eyes.

Her skin is dewy.                                Her smile is bright.                            Her eyes sparkle.

She’s relaxed and content.                  She is calm and elegant.

In fact, when I think about the future I desire, calm elegance is the perfect description.

As I prepare to teach Week of Calm, my free masterclass on how to prioritize your well-being and protect your peace, I’m being meticulous about what I am consuming.

✨Media                    ✨Books

✨Relationships        ✨Environment

✨Activities               ✨Food

It’s a lot like playing hot and cold as a child. Is this thing I’m consuming taking me closer to my desired state of calm elegance? Or is it taking me further away?

For example, the more time I spend consuming social media, the more anxious I feel.  The more time I spend in nature, the more calm I feel.

As I design my new home, I am making choices to honor calm elegance. Neutral colors calm my soul, so you won’t find a lot of color in my home.

In relationships, I am paying attention to the people who cause me to tense up and the people who cause me to breathe a sigh of relief.

With food, some foods make my body feel calm and nourished. Others bring up feelings of discomfort.

Welcome to this edition of The Edit - The Glow Issue. When you detox your life of the things that bring you stress and anxiety, you glow from the inside out.

In this issue, I want to give you a few ideas on how to glow in the final days of summer.

Let’s glow!

P.S. This “detox process” is one of many aspects of calm that we’ll be covering in Week of Calm, my virtual mini-retreat on elevating the quality of your life by making calm your baseline. The best part? This is my only free online event at the time of publication.

The content in Week of Calm will help you see that you have so much more power than you ever realized. You have the ability to manage your mind and emotions. You are capable of changing the things that bring you stress, and once you learn these relaxation and rejuvenating rituals, you will feel as though the clouds have parted and the sun is finally shining.

Consume what you want to create

As I adjust my consumptions to align with the future I desire, I’m noticing shifts in how I feel, how I show up, and therefore, what I create.

The thing that will impact your experience of life the most (second only to managing your mind) is editing your “consumptions” - what you put into your mind, body, and soul.

This is what I call “surroundings” in the School of Self-Image. What do you surround yourself with?

If you want to create a great relationship, hang out with people who are in healthy relationships.

If you want to create a beautiful home, fill your library or your social media feed with inspiring content on the topic.

If you want to learn to eat healthy food, fill your home with healthy foods. Visit healthy restaurants. Watch healthy cooking shows.

Curate your entire world based on what you desire. Detox the rest.

Creating Joy Immersions with Kelly Trainor

This is a thought I’ve been practicing and in doing so, I’ve created what I call a “Joy Immersion” process. Basically, in a joy immersion, you release anything that’s taking away your joy and you add things that bring you joy.

Here’s a weekly report of how it’s going:

1. I have stopped consuming True Crime podcasts, and it is working. My underlying anxiety is so much better.

2. I have practiced finding joy in random moments like walking in the rain, being with my dog and observing his joy, looking at my loved ones and realizing how lucky I am… gratitude.

3. I have been working on creating the brain conditions for joy. Last month, I decided to change my habit of buffering with alcohol. Instead, I am planning and tracking my consumption with the goal of being present in my own life.Drinking almost daily for 40 years has depressed my dopamine levels, so I am finding brain-based ways to bring my dopamine back up to a healthy baseline, so I can feel more joy. These have included getting sunlight in my eyes, moving my body, taking cold showers, and continuing to reduce alcohol. This week I may add a supplement or two, based on brain research.

Next week's focus is going to be finding new sources of joy by trying new things. I’m so excited!”
