At almost fifty, I’ve never been a homeowner, and I felt like it was time that I adult.

So, I went on what I call “dream fittings” and started trying on owning my own home.

Last year, I worked with a realtor in Denver (shout out to Delroy at Sotheby’s) who took us into so many homes.

I’d walk through the home and imagine myself waking up in the space, hosting dinner parties, and working in the office.

Some homes were an instant no, but there was one that felt really good, so I put in an offer…

It was not accepted.

Forward facing, my dream fitting continued.

Denver was proving difficult to find the kind of home I desired at the price point that felt right.

So, I decided to “try on” Charlotte.  One weekend, I booked a spontaneous ticket to see what was going on in this up-and-coming city.

The moment I drove down Queens Road, it felt like I had found the perfect dress. It just fit.

Right then, I bought land and found a builder that same weekend, and now, less than a year later, my house is underway.

And it all started by trying on my dream.

Welcome to The Dream Issue of The Edit.

What dream are you ready to try on? This issue is designed to help you figure that out.

With love,

Try On Your Dreams

I find that the biggest challenge for women is this:

They don’t know what they want - or so they say.

The reasons vary widely.

Some have too many ideas.

And some are just afraid to make the wrong choice.

Some feel they have no passion for anything.

Some have too many ideas.

And some are just afraid to make the wrong choice.

That’s where dream fittings come in.

Imagine walking into a store and expecting yourself to just *magically* know which outfit you plan to take home. It would be nearly impossible, right?

You have to try things on. Dreams are the same.

Ask yourself, “What would I love?” And then just brainstorm a big list of things.

Once you’re done, browse the list and pick something you’d like to “try on” first. No pressure. No commitment. Just play.

Achieving the Extraordinary with Karen Lovelace

“When I joined the School of Self-Image, I was in the middle of a career change and feeling overwhelmed. On top of that, we all were in the middle of the pandemic.

I suffered from migraines up to 20 days a month and was bedridden. Thankfully, Pilates gave me my life back. So within my first year in SOSI, I decided to honor the work that had healed my body and got certified in reformer and mat.

My Extraordinary Goal was to become comprehensively certified, and in February I did it. Despite suffering from sleep paralysis and a pinched nerve in my back, I got it done! Now, I’m focused on becoming nationally certified and becoming a health coach!

With SOSI, I have changed my career to full-time fitness, bought a new house and a new car, and I’m taking more vacations! Now, I am feeling confident and happy in my own skin with little touches of self-care all around me."

Dream Fittings

There is nothing more satisfying than trying on your dreams for size.

How does it feel?                          How does it look?                          Can you see yourself wearing this dream long-term?

Dream Fittings give you the opportunity to explore without the commitment.

Book a flight.                                      Go on a single date.                        Tour a home.                                      Take a class.

When it’s right, the dream will sort of… choose you. This week’s podcast episode will teach you how to design your dream fittings, step by step.
